Irinke and N2 Prospects lie within key NE and NW trending structural corridors that host K92’s Au-Ag-Cu veins and porphyry occurrences
Prospects exhibit extensive mineralization and alteration footprints up to 4×3 km suggesting significant discovery opportunity
Over two-thirds of the project area remains unexplored, providing a substantial scope for discovery
Irinke lies along strike from K92’s Maniape and Arakompa lode-gold veins, sharing similar host rocks and coincident Au-Te-Bi soil anomalies. This geological setting suggests strong potential for gold mineralization extensions.
A newly identified sulfide-bearing shear zone measuring 17m x 2m has been discovered, showing geological similarities to K92’s Arakompa lode gold-copper-silver vein, located just 4 km away. This structure presents a promising target for further exploration.
Additionally, a high-grade gold-carbonate base-metal vein extension has been identified. A 30 cm quartz-carbonate breccia structure returned 2.28 g/t Au from a 2022 rock sample, and recent fieldwork has exposed the same structure 24 m upstream from the original sample site, further confirming its potential.
A total of 169 soil samples and 68 rock chip samples have been collected and sent for assay. These results will be instrumental in refining drill targets and guiding future exploration efforts.
Structural mapping and geological interpretation are currently underway to better define mineralized trends and assess potential drill locations. The project benefits from historical regional sampling data, with 776 samples collected during a 2014 joint PNG-China (Chinese Geological Survey) program. Results indicate a gold-anomalous zone with a similar tenor to K92’s active mining deposits. Notably, this anomaly is situated on a topographic high, indicating it is not downstream runoff from Arakompa but rather a distinct mineralized zone.
N2 was originally identified as a high-priority porphyry target by Barrick in 2012 based on geophysical anomalies. This interpretation has been further reinforced by MobileMT geophysical data acquired by SPMC in 2022, which highlights the presence of a significant mineralized system.
The prospect requires follow-up surface sampling and detailed mapping to evaluate its full potential. Positioned within a key structural corridor known to host porphyry and lode-gold systems, N2 represents a compelling target for future exploration programs.
The project area lies within a structurally complex region influenced by the Elandora and Akuna intrusives, which are associated with copper and gold mineralization. These intrusions have played a key role in the geological evolution of the area, creating a favorable environment for mineralization.
Tectonic activity has shaped the landscape, with faulting and fracturing providing conduits for hydrothermal fluids. This has resulted in extensive alteration zones and the formation of quartz-sulfide veining, diorite porphyry intrusions, and high-grade gold-bearing structures.
Historical and modern exploration datasets highlight the significance of these geological features, and reinterpretation using contemporary mineral system models is enhancing the understanding of the region’s mineral potential.
The project benefits from extensive historical and modern datasets, which are currently being reinterpreted using contemporary mineral systems approaches. These techniques align with exploration models relevant to the region, ensuring a targeted and effective exploration strategy.
Intense argillic-altered fault breccia has been observed, hosting quartz-sulfide veining. Sampling has returned notable gold values, including assays of 2.28 g/t Au, indicating the presence of a robust mineralized system.
Diorite porphyry intrusions have been identified within the project area, suggesting the potential for intrusive-related gold-copper mineralization. These bodies are considered key exploration targets for further evaluation.
